A large rug that fills most of the floor space is ideal. You can place the rug underneath the night stands or let the rug extend a bit past the foot of the bed. The most important thing to consider is having a comfortable landing for your feet when climbing in and out of bed. Another economical solution is to add two runners on either side of the bed.
Here, you'll always want your rug to extend well beyond the table and chairs, keeping chair legs from catching on the rug when pulled in and out. An 8 x 10 rug is a common choice under a rectangular dining table.
Kitchens get a lot of foot traffic, so a small 2 x 3 rug in front of the sink keeps the space tidy while adding some support where it s needed. Alternatively, if you have a galley kitchen or an island, a runner makes a perfect floor covering for the full length of the space. Add a runner to your entryway if the space allows to add color and depth.
For an open floor plan, an area rug that fully extends under all of the furniture is a great way to define the space. An 8 x 10 rug or larger is ideal. If your space is smaller or your larger pieces of furniture are up against the wall, having a rug just under the front two legs of your largest pieces will make the room look larger. A 5 x 7 rug or larger will usually work for this arrangement.
Inspired by mid-century design with its groovy shapes and shaggy textures, this modern area rug collection features Scandinavian style straight from the 70s. Each decorative floor covering reimagines retro swirls, prisms and curves in combinations of burgundy red, grass green, sky blue and soft pink. Artfully crafted from polyester threads, these hand-tufted rugs pair perfectly beneath an Eames chair, papasan or pouf.
Customer reviewsIt looks like it should be fantastic. . .it wasn't.
Usually I love Novogratz items. However, I didn't particularly care for this one. The pattern on this is great but the whole thing looked and felt cheap. The fibers are flimsy and have a certain amount of shine to them that makes it look cheap and synthetic. Compounding that appearance is the fact that the fibers are thin and sparse. Far from appearing luxe, the lack of density allows the fibers to lie down and flatten. In my opinion it made the rug look dirty and matted when it was brand new. So, as much as I wanted to love this, it went right back to Amazon.
